Jazz Photo The BandA ecLectics and Petros Sakelliou are proud to announce that Petros and his composition "Swingalong" composed for the group, has been notified winner of the prestigious 2007 Thelonious Monk Jazz Institute Composition competition and Prize sponsored by the BMI foundation. The composer and pianist is currently making travel and rehearsal arrangements with his group and the Institute, to fly to Los Angeles and perform as part of the event hosted by the Monk Institute at the KODAK THEATRE in West Hollywood on October 28, 2007. The BandA ecLectics will perform the winning composition, "Swingalong" which is composed for 11 players, and is part of the group's recently recorded album, released in May 2007. Following the performance and presentation of the award, there will be a tribute to Herbie Hancock, performed by artists such as Wayne Shorter, George Benson, Al Jarreu, George Duke, Joni Mitchel, John Patitucci, Sting and several other musicians.
