Andreas Baer

Artist Biography by: Andreas Baer

Pure energy, brilliant precision work and intoxicating joy of playing – an encounter with The Andreas Baer Trio Plus One is a far cry from any boring or even superficial experience. The man on the keyboard constantly challenges his instrument’s ultimate capacities and commands the best of himself as well as from his fellow musicians. After dedicating more than a decade to the classical composers, the gregarious pianist from Brugg, Switzerland immersed into jazz, its syncope and improvisation.

Andreas Baer always reaches his musical highs when intonating the songs and standards of the pioneers of jazz. He specializes in blues, boogie and swing. Sounds like the familiar musical commodity? The “broken record” of the same old same old? No way! Andreas injects new life to familiar tunes, adds high-gloss polish and a virtuosos profile. It goes without saying that “Bear-brand” (own compositions) form a substantial part of his repertoire.

For Andreas and his band, music translates into pure fun and an ever-new challenge to conquer the listeners by employing high-carat arrangements and melody chains and a lively show-mastering.

Andreas Baer has gathered rich experience in countless concerts inside and outside Switzerland. The Trio Plus One played in the landmark festivals of Cully, Lugano and Montreux and has produced four albums.

Andreas Baer is accompanied in The Trio Plus One by Reimund Gerstner (contrabass), Ueli Müller (drums) and John Voirol (saxophone), which are all teachers of music in various schools, among them the Swiss Jazz School in Bern and the Music University of Lucerne, Switzerland. All are internationally sought after artists. Their individual broad musical background and experiences add a unique and special touch to the Trio Plus One concerts.
