n/a - "School of the Arts" Magnatude (Magna Carta Records) release date: October 9th, 2007   T Lavitz-piano (producer, composer) Dave Weckl-drums, percussion John Patitucci-acoustic and electric bass Frank Gambale-acoustic guitar Steve Morse-acoustic guitar Jerry Goodman-violin       please visit us at:   www.tlavitz.net or www.myspace.com/tlavitz     Best known as the keyboardist from the (6 time Grammy nominated) Dixie Dregs, T Lavitz is also the founding memeber of Jazz is Dead. Having worked with everyone from rock bands like Widespread Panic and Jefferson Starship, funky rhythmic artists Pat Benatar and Mother's Finest, all the way across to jazz acts like Billy Cobham, a session with the legendary Joe Pass (guitar) and of course the Dregs (who really seem to incorporate all styles in one!) School of the Arts (SOTA) marks T's (that's right, it's just T...and no period please!) 7th release as a leader, however all (including this one) of the projects feature the other musicians, and in the case of one of his early works (T Lavitz and the Bad Habitz) as well as the 6th and 7th recordings (Boston T Party and SOTA), Lavitz reflects that "...a really consistant and tight band sound was what we have been trying to achieve, and I think we have"...also saying that he "...feels really lucky to have continuing opportunities to play live and record with some of the best musicians anywhere"!
