On two following Fridays, December 21 and December 28, jazz vocalist Alma Micic will be performing at two charitable concerts, singing for the homeless in New York's oldest rescue missions.

NPR Radio described Alma Micic as vocalist who "defines what jazz singing is all about". Born and raised in Belgrade, Serbia, Alma Micic moved to the US after receiving a generous scholarship to attend the prestigious Berklee College of Music and since has been a recipient of many awards, including the Cleo Laine Award for Outstanding Musicianship and Bronx Council on the Arts Award. Her new release "The Hours" is scheduled for spring 2008. Besides having a successful music career, Alma Micic is also a dedicated music educator working with underprivileged children through the Head Start program in the Bronx.

"Sharing the gift of music with the people that are truly in need of encouragement is very important to me. It is my way of giving back to community," Alma says.

On Friday December 21, the concert will be presented at New York City Rescue Mission, America's First Rescue Mission, founded in 1872. It's located at 90 Lafayette Street, New York, NY.

On Friday, December 28, Alma Micic will perform at Bowery Mission, Located at 227 Bowery, New York, NY. Founded in 1879, The Bowery Mission is the third oldest Gospel Mission in the US.
