Liebman/Saindon's Depth of Emotion Hits UK's Jazz Audience

Press Release by: Ed Saindon

World Improvised Music’s new release Depth of Emotion featuring Dave Liebman and Ed Saindon has been making inroads on the UK jazz scene. With brisk CD sales at the popular internet site Jazzcds, positive reviews in the leading jazz magazines and Pick of The Week on The Jazz Jury hosted by The Jazz, Depth of Emotion is seeing success with jazz listeners in Great Britain.

Chris Parker of Vortexjazz wrote in his review, “Liebman's characterful soprano snakes above Saindon's glowing vibes…the quartet play intelligently balanced, dynamic, vigorous but relaxed and informal music (the whole session took just three hours to record, and thus has the air of a meeting of sympathetic, like minds). Saindon's vibes and marimba playing is tasteful but powerfully expressive, his piano pieces more quietly reflective; overall, this album provides an enjoyably representative sample of his considerable compositional and instrumental skill.”

Former Yes drummer and Earthworks leader, Bill Bruford selected Depth of Emotion as the Pick of the Week on The Jazz Jury, broadcast by UK’s leading jazz station The Jazz. Bruford stated after hearing tracks of the Depth of Emotion, “I was completely won round by this music of staggering ability. This is some serious music. Ed Saindon's solo was just terrific and I loved Liebman's stuff at the front, his lovely soft soprano sound. The vibes also had quite a soft sound to them, but then they really started to motor. I loved it, loved it. Now I'm going to go and cry!"

Jazz critic Peter Bevan of The Northern Echo said, “I'd previously heard Saindon on vibes in a mainstream session with Warren Vache, but here he adds marimba and piano on a more modern quartet session also featuring soprano saxophonist (and flautist) Liebman. There's a touching tribute to his Berklee colleague Herb Pomeroy and other originals interspersed with Green Dolphin Street and Moon River, plus five attractive 'piano solo reflections'.
