Miller was the last primary collaborator of Miles Davis, the right-hand man of soul legend Luther Vandross and the guy who helped shape David Sanborn's pop sound in the '80s, writing “Maputo," one of the most enduring smooth jazz classics. As a leading session musician, Miller has graced well over 500 albums, recording with musicians from Frank Sinatra and Elton John to Bill Withers and LL Cool J. Marcus has also become the go-to composer for films and has scored over 20 movies including Boomerang and This Christmas. He is also responsible for writing the party song “Da Butt” for Spike Lee’s film School Daze and has scored music for Chris Rock’s hit TV show Everybody Hates Chris.
