Artist Biography by: Taeko Fukao
In 1998, Taeko Fukao, born and raised on the outskirts of Kyoto, Japan, came to New York City with dreams of expanding her singing career and took a strong liking to Jazz. The intense jazz study, coupled with her naturally appealing voice and musical ideas, have earned her performances in some of New York City's best known Jazz and R&B clubs, including Blue Note, Ashford & Simpson's Sugar Bar, St. Nick's Pub, Minton's Playhouse, Lenox Lounge, Kitano, CaChaCa, and ZincBar. Her musical talent is also bought to Japan every spring and fall.
Taeko performs with great jazz giants today such as Onaje Allan Gumb, Harry Whitaker, Donald Smith, George Colligan, Kenny Davis, Dwayne Burno, Jim Cammack, Marcus McLaurine, Essiet Essiet, Vic Juris, Yoshiaki Masuo, to name a few.
