Charity Campaign for the late Jazz Legend George Melly

Silk Screen prints by artist and close friend Maggi Hambling

Press Release by: Cindy Rubbens

Venue: IAP Fine Art (London)

Jazz Photo - Link to Website

Launched by George Melly and Stephen Fry in 2006, this edition of 100 silk-screen prints entitled 'George Melly Singing' by George's close friend established British artist Maggi Hambling, was published to raise money for Terrence Higgins Trust, helping people with HIV and AIDS. Since George's death in 2007, his widow Diana Melly has asked that £75 from each print also be donated to the charity 'For Dementia'; which helped to care for George at the end of his life.

Stephen Fry was among the first to buy one of the 100 silk-screen prints, each signed by Maggi Hambling. There are now approximately only 40 left from the edition for sale. IAP Fine Art, the gallery which published the silk-screen print with Maggi Hambling, will offer the readers of Jazz News a £25 discount to all readers on the purchase of a framed or unframed silk-screen print. The offer will last until 17 August 2008, the anniversary of George Melly's birth in 1926.

Price: £675 unframed + £10 p&p (Europe) or £750 framed excluding delivery. Framing is to museum standard and to Maggi Hambling's design. £75 from each sale goes to Terrence Higgins Trust, and £75 from each sale also goes to For Dementia. The silk-screen prints may be purchased from http://www.maggihambling.com or by calling IAP Fine Art on 0844 561 1833 or by emailing sales@iapfineart.com.
