Music Marketing Tips and Tricks

The presentation of your image is just as important as the quality of the music.  One of the key ways in introducing your new CD to journalists and radio is through the use of a one-page.

A one-page serves as a combination press release/bio for the new CD.  It tells the world what the music is about and how to contact the artist.  If you’re not mailing a one-page with every CD,  you are missing a key component in your marketing plan.  Journalists and radio stations often receive armloads of new releases every week.  If you send the CD without resource materials, you are assuming reviewers will either look on the CD for contact information or run a search on the Internet to find you.  This assumption can be lethal.

If your marketing materials aren’t up to speed, it is imperative you take the time to make the necessary changes.  Incorporating the expertise of a publicist can help your music reach a wider audience.  If hiring a publicist isn’t an option for your budget, you might want to consider contacting them to see if they will write a one-page ala carte for you.  This can be an affordable way to spice up your marketing arsenal without a huge commitment.
