From swing to funk in the 6th edition of Multiculturita Summer Jazz Festival 2008. The festival, by Multiculturita Association, with the artistic direction of Michele Laricchia and with the contribution of Region Puglia, Province of Bari and Capurso Council’s Administration, as well as the promotional support of Jazzitalia, like every year, will be in Capurso (Bari – Italy), a small town located a few Kilometers from Bari.
Four amazing and exclusive evenings, from 21st to 24th July, where one will see some of the best musicians in the worldwide Jazz scene.
The Festival will start 21st July with the presentation of "A French Man in New York", the new record by Kekko Fornarelli, a pianist who comes from Bari. The album is inspired by the famous French pianist icon Michel Petrucciani. Together with Fornarelli, Rosario Giuliani at saxophones, Yuri Goloubev at double bass and Benjamin Henocq at drums.
Tuesday 22nd July, The Manhattan Transfer will celebrate theirs "35th Anniversary Tour" in Capurso, an exclusive event for the whole South of Italy.
The extraordinary vocal group, composed by Tim Hauser, Janis Siegel, Alan Paul and Cheryl Bentyne will be accompanied by a combo of valid musicians: Yaron Gershovksy, piano; John B. Williams, double bass; Wayne Johnson, guitar and Steve Hass, drums.
Wednesday 23rd July will be the turn of Lino Patruno & Jazz Moments, with Lino Patruno, banjo and guitar; Mino Lacirignola, trumpet; Pino Picherri, clarinet; Muzio Petrella, trombone; Guido Di Leone, guitar; Giuseppe Bassi, double bass; Fabio Delle Foglie, drums and Patty Lomuscio, vocal.
The kermesse will end the 24th July with another clou event for the Apulian jazz summer: Marcus Miller. The worldwide famous bass player will be for the first absolute time in Puglia. Miller will be accompanied by his band which includes Alex Han at sax, Fédérico Gonzales at keyboards and Jason "JT" Thomas at drums.
