Barry Manilow

Born on June 17, 1946, Barry Manilow achieved international fame as a pop singer and composer during the 1970s. At the base of his musical roots was always his love for jazz.

Manilow is a prolific composer, and he has written for movies. During 2001 he signed with Concord Records and issued his first major jazz CD, HERE AT THE MAYFLOWER. He composed the songs and he sings the songs with sensitivity.

Barry Manilow is in essence a true jazz vocalist and his recent compositions reflect jazz motifs. He also wrote the music to the Johnny Mercer lyrics for the now classic "When October Goes."
