Born in Brooklyn, New York, Terrence grew up in New Jersey and Connecticut. He has performed with guitarist Bill Frisell, bassist Kermit Driscoll's trio, is a member of bassist Anthony Cox’s groups Regional Jazz and the Happy Trio, and has performed at Carnegie Hall and Ellis Island.
Terrence began playing the guitar by chance when he was placed in a school guitar class in 8th grade. In high school Terrence was accepted to the Greater Hartford Academy of Performing Arts where he began to study jazz and improvisation with bassist Dave Santoro. During this time he was also fortunate to frequently sit in with local Hartford musicians including trombonist Steve Davis and saxophonist Jimmy Greene.
Terrence is a graduate of William Paterson University where he studied with Vic Juris, Paul Meyers, Gene Bertoncini, and classical guitarist Richard Jacobowski. In addition to guitar, he studied composition with Richard DeRosa and Kevin Norton. Since graduating, Terrence has formed and led numerous ensembles that have performed his original compositions. These groups have included musicians Steve LaSpina, Ben Street, Derek Phillips, Johnathan Blake, Danny Weiss, Jacob Sacks, Dave Ambrosio, Thomas Morgan, Eivind Opsvik, Dave Ballou, and John O’Gallagher. Terrence also frequently travels to the Midwest to perform with bassist Anthony Cox and Fat Kid Wednesdays' Michael Lewis, Adam Linz and JT Bates; FKW's most recent performance was broadcast on misplacedmusic.org.
In November of 2004, Terrence was invited to perform in the first Minnesota Sur Seine jazz festival in Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota. During the festival he performed with Fat Kid Wednesday, Anthony Cox, and several European musicians including saxophonist Francois Corneloup, pianist Tony Hymas, and clarinetist Denis Colin. Also in 2004, Terrence was a resident artist at the Banff Centre for the Arts in Banff, Canada.
