Complete Book of Improvisations, Fills & Chord Progressions by Gail Smith

Gail Smith carefully gives instructions and details on teaching improvisations, fills, and chord progressions in her instruction book. This is an indepth book and is complete in all aspects.

The book is arranged in a manner which allows experimentation. There are 18 chapters in this book.

Each chapter has three or more parts including playing examples. I was intrigued by the good, solid common sense approach of this book, as found in every chapter. Chapter 10 covered special effects, broken chords, patterns, arpeggios, turnarounds, and substitution, and it was advice that will be useful to every pianist. Chapter 14 deals with improvising with the left-hand. Every chapter in this instruction book is a gem.

Gail Smiths COMPLETE BOOK OF IMPROVISATION FILLS & CHORD PROGRESSIONS should be in every home piano library and in every public library as a reference tool. Gail Smith has crafted a fine work.'Gail Smith gives us detailed and enjoyable methods to learn improvisations, fills, and chord progression in her music instruction book. An excellent book, and one most welcome in the home music library!
