Filled with remarks and analysis for performance, the jazz guitarist will find this collection a worthwhile adventure.  There is a CD which accompanies the text and contains fourteen sections.

The preface and introduction are well worth your time, and very informative!  There are thirteen chapters in the book.

Part One contains ten chapters.  Material covered includes major tonalities and their scales and chords, minor tonalities and their diatonic chords, an in-depth and detailed look at Modal Jazz, secondary dominant chords, substitute dominant chords, vagrant chords, and other topics.

Part Two contains chapters on the blues, rhythm changes, and standards. The book closes with a conclusion and glossary of terms used in the text.

On page 167 is Ken Hatfield's "Riff for Brother Jack."  The guitarist will find this an interesting and enjoyable challenge.  Playing it will give you some clever insights into the riff approach.

A fine book, it will find a wide audience.  The information is sound. 

The writing style is straight-forward, and the reader's attention is captured from the beginning!  Highly recommended.
