Another Great Introduction to Trumpet from Mel Bay Publications

Born in 1956 at Zwickau, Germany, Rainer Auerbach has established himself as a leading trumpet player and teacher.  His writings on the trumpet are well-known internationally. In this book, which comes with a CD, Auerbach offers a trumpet method for beginners which is clearly stated and highly educational.  This course on trumpet instruction is an enjoyable learning process.

In keeping with the author's heritage, Mel Bay published the text in English and German. Focusing mainly on standard Bb trumpet, Introduction to Trumpet provides students a straight-forward approach to practice and skill development.

The complimentary CD will help in exercises and practice. It features a brief audible guide to using Auerbach's method.  The weekly lessons cover 36 programmned weeks for learning to play the trumpet.  Whatever your goals on trumpet playing, whether jazz, big band, swing, or otherwise, this program will develop your skills.

There is much covered in this fine trumpet instruction book.  Among the in-depth topics covered are rhythm and tempo, breathing for beginners, breathing exercises, explanations of placement of the tongue, lips, and corners of the mouth, the mouthpiece and correct holding of the instrument, and guides on best ways to utilize the handling of weekly exercises.

Introduction to Trumpet is helpful and enjoyable.
