Being With You by Ruby Braff

Being With You is Ruby Braff remembering Louis Armstrong, and Braff's cornet sounds are at their most perfect in this jazzy tribute! Joining Braff is Jon-Erik Kellso on cornet, Je Wilder on Flugelhorn on the song, "Royal Garden Blues," Dan Barrett on trombone, Scott Robinson on Baritoneevery saxophone and clarinet, Jerry Jerome on tenor saxophone, Bucky Pizzarelli on guitar, Johnny Varro on piano, Bob Haggart on bass, and Jim Gwin on drums. This CD never ceases to amaze with its great jazz sounds and shared joy of the musicians working together to create a tribute to the late Louis Armstrong!

Johnny Varro is the perfect pianist for this recording and shines on every selection he performs, and the trombone of Dan Barrett really gives some excellent moods! Every musician is in top form, and it is a joy to hear them perform such songs as "I Never Know," Cole Porter's "Little One," "Keepin' OUt of Mischief Now," "If I Could Be With You," "Hustlin' and Bustlin' for Baby," "When Your Lover Has Gone," "Royal Garden Blues," (great jazz sounds on this one!), "Twelfth Street Rag," and "When It's Sleepy Time Down South."

This 9 selection CD is a pleaser, and one every jazz listener will want to own and add to his collection of Ruby Braff CDs! This CD is full of excellent musical ideas, each realized in every way! Excellent!

The song, "Twelfth Street Rag," is one of the best renditions around! Enjoy!
