Consequently, the music reveals itself as occasionally graceful and articulate, but bereft of much emotion. Easy to admire one way, but from another point of view is fairly thin and indistinct. There is a small range of soul in this music. The organ doesn’t grunt, the guitar does not cry. Because the emotional range remains narrow, one’s mind can easily wander from one piece to another. It all sounds about the same. And there isn’t much to get worked up about. The music doesn’t take you anywhere, but admittedly the space it does occupy is, as mentioned, graceful. You keep waiting for something ominous, something humorous, something scandalous to happen. There is no story, there is only a gorgeous, well built little structure that you’re waiting for something to happen. Stuck in a beautiful web.
