Day by Day by Barbara Paris

This is Barbara's 3rd release. This time round, she features 11 standards and 1 original. You can tell by her approach to the music that Barbara not only is having fun, but has a deep respect for these standards. Her band on this gig include Llew Matthews on piano, John B. Williams on bass, and some great drumming from Roy McCurdy. Special guest on this CD is Rich Chiaraluce on tenor and flute. Barbara's voice seems to be stronger on this outing, proving that she is becoming more confident in her vocal ability. Her moving rendition of Jerome Kern's, Fearly Beloved is one of the highpoints of this recording. Her band offers her the support she needs to transcend these songs into Barbara's own way of phrasing, and projecting to the listener.

Barbara's two other recordings (Happy Talk, and Where Butterflies Play) are worth a listen as well. As she matures, and continues to record, and perform, Barbara will continue to maintain her stature as one of the promising up and comers in the world of Jazz.
