Deep Into It by Larry Carlton

Good Title-Considering the talent, and style Larry Carlton displays.

In this 21st recording from guitarist Carlton is an-all new recording. Its many styles make it feel like a career-spanning collection. From solo artist to session superstar, Carlton brings magic to songs like the tittle track and "I can't tell you why" featuring soulful vocalist Shai.

Carlton makes wonderful use of his instruments middle range, enabling him to snarl yet quietly. On "Deep into it" featuring a long jamming remake of that classic tune, the guitarist is welcoming a new sax voice into the smooth jazz scene, Chris Porter on Saxophone and Billy Kilson on drums, better known for their work with the Dave Holland's quintet. Potter has a grittier tone than most smooth-jazz players, but it's made palatable with Carlton's familiar warm guitar sound.
