Dream Scapes by Steve Reid

Rippingtons' co-founder Steve Reid produces a tapestry of compelling songs in his fifth solo effort, "Dream Scapes." Discovering that music and multimedia has a profound effect on people, Reid produces this 10-track album as well as the accompanying production, which is scheduled to go on tour in 2002. An enhanced portion is offered on the compact disc to view on computer.

Initially surfacing on the jazz scene during the mid-1970s, Reid has traveled the world extensively and is featured on hundreds of records--from Miles Davis to Santana. Although he is known mostly for his contributions to the enormously popular contemporary jazz group The Rippingtons, Reid's gift as a percussionist earned him honors as "Percussionist of the Year" in 1993 and 1995.

Stellar performances from pop sensation Mexine Nightingale and rising star Denaine add a rich topping to the grooves of "Dream Scapes." Rogerio Jardim adds to the seductive tune of "My Gypsy Heart," while Reid adds a touch of world beat to "Mango Punch."

"Dream Scapes" promises to touch listeners through the use of special effects such as bird calls, frame drums, a bamboo scraper and Japanese temple bells.
