Gil Parris by Gil Parris

This young guitarist from Westchester, NY makes an impressive debut. He opens up with the Santanaesque offering "It's A Lie", with support from Bob James on keys. Gil includes George Benson among his influences, and he turns in two tracks that would compare favorably, "Midnight Rendezvous" and "Mr. Smooth". David Sanborn lends a hand on "Starting Over", and that pairing works well. Gil reaches back to his blues roots with "Listen, I'm Talking", closing the CD with some wide-open wailing. You'll like this one.
