Live in Cuba by Mingus Amungus

Mingus Amungus bring the jazz listener much pleasure with the CD release, "Live in Cuba," recorded at Havana, Cuba. One song that keeps coming back to me is the sweet and lowdown jazzy selection titled "So Much On My Mind, " which really gets it on in a sly musical vein of humor and sound! Other selections on this excellent CD include "Voodoo Duty," "Caravan," "Crossroads," among others. There are 14 selections on the CD, each one as different and as interesting as the next one!

Those who have heard Mingus Amungus perform know how unusual and entertaining this group is, and this CD is like being there at a live performance, sitting in a chair, taking it all in! Each performer plays perfectly and the group is in excellent form!

One of the best works on this CD from many to select from, is "Queen of the Roses," a lively experiment in form and substance, a great example of Mingus Amungus creating its magical sound waves! Another song for enjoyment and consideration of its style is "Fables of Faubus." Mingus Amungus at its best!
