Nation of Laws by Vinny Golia Quintet

The world-renowned composer, bandleader, and musician Vinny Golia is one of the most versatile in the music business playing twenty different woodwinds, plus various ethnic aerophones. Vinny has definitely made his mark on the music industry performing all over the world, expressing his deep tradition of jazz, contemporary classical and world music transformed into his own unique compositions. Vinny has continually been recognized by critics and readers of music journals for their "ten best" lists, as an instrumentalist and creator of improvised music. In 1990 he was the winner of the Jazz Times TDWR award for Bass Saxophone. Vinny has also been a part of writing music for film, modern dance and theatrical performances such as Three Men and a Job, Serpent's Lair, Troublebound, Blood and Concrete, Joe's Rotten World, Heatwave, Star Trek IV, Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation, and The Lost Boys to name a few.

In Vinny's release "Nation of Laws" we get a feel of his creative juices as they flow freely through a intermix of feelings and thoughts expressed with an accompaniment of great musicians. Vinny features Rob Blakeslee on cornet, trumpet and fluegelhorn, Nels Cline on Electric 6 string and Baritone Guitars, Joel Hamilton on bass, and Alex Cline on drums and percussion. On the track "Big Child on the Loose" Vinny blows a mean bass sax like no other, while the band joins in to create a deep jammin' musical grind. This group really knows how to find a groove and never let it go. If you like improvised jazz, you're going to love this one!
