The Red Quartets by Jane Ira Bloom

The highly respected Jane Ira Bloom appears here with her quartet from sessions recorded in May 1997 and January 1999 in Brooklyn, NY. Jane Ira Bloom: Soprano Saxophone; Fred Hersch: Piano; Mark Dresser: Bass; Bobby Previte: Drums; The saxophonist and group deliver the purity and originality their avid fans expect and demand. I especially enjoyed Monk's Rec Room which features a fabulous piano solo by Fred Hersch. The leader's individuality and devotion to the highest of standards are apparent on all tracks. A couple of well loved standards," Time After Time" and "How Deep Is The Ocean" are included but all other compositions are Bloom originals. "Tell Me Your Diamonds" ends with lovely bowed bass by Mark Dresser. There are eleven tracks for a total of 62 minutes. This is certainly a "must have" CD for fans of the brilliant saxophonist.
