Boro Song by Solade

Solade is a vocalist, a writer and a trumpet player. Honing her sounds in the ‘big city’ of New York, this Panama born earned her Bachelor of Arts in trumpet performance. She combines Miles with Marley swagger and a the soft touch of Holiday on her first disc called Boro.

Andrea Lindborg rechristened as ‘Solade’ has experienced it all. Track six "Dealin’ With" is a straight forward song about love. Song eleven "Boundaries" sets boundaries for what it takes to be with someone and making your intentions known, not to get played again.

Multi-instrumentalist Francis Mbappe adds bass, guitar, drums and percussion along with Solade and music that doesn't do not crowd the overall sound. Solade and Mbappe have the right amount of each, backed by the lyrics to match. Song twelve "Sunrise Song" has Solade hitting all the high notes with the promise of sunshine and this album is ray of sunshine, a sunrise, a breath of fresh air.

Titled Boro which itself is the English equivalent of ‘heart’ Solade takes what she feels through emotion with Brazilian overtones to make a stunning debut album. Landing her first gig on a tribute show to Freddie Hubbard and Lee Morgan, Lindborg sounds like Sade in places which to some is a compliment and with that she is a one cool lady.
