Home & Home & Some Other Place by Florian Ross

A quartet of fine musicians playing an indistinct jazz form, sort of emblematic of a dreary day. The themes seem to be melancholy and dark.

The highlight of the album is 5 Freunde, in a boppish mode, which features a solid flugelhorn solo by Claus Støtter and a somewhat tepid, choppy tenor solo with no apparent message by Matthias Erlewein.

I would think that a more distinguishable style with more 'swing' might bring this talented group more acceptance from the great unwashed public and the cognoscenti alike

Maybe some standards on this ensembles next project would give life to an assemblage that should be getting things off the ground and into orbit.
