Live by Joe Diorio Trio

Joe Diorio is nothing short of one of the best players of his time, and hisability to shine in both commercial settings as well as his signature freeform approach have made him one of the most enjoyable musicians to listento, and a special treat for jazz guitarists who want to ‘get taken to schooland back’. Accompanied by Bob Magnusson (bass) and Jim Plank (drums), twoequally impressive and like-minded players, the trio make magic across the 6tunes here, and really get to take it there and back. Featuring key musicaltexts such as "Green Dolphin Street", "Loverman" and "A Child Is Born",there is never a dull moment as Joe and trio throw each tune for a virtualboomerang, experimenting with form, voice and mood. Make no mistake, this isnot just a blowing session, but a true display of synergy as the reactionand energy between the players guides every step, every rhythm change andevery next note or phrase. Although you can never really replicate theexperience of live jazz, some recordings come very close, and this 6-songset is a true testament to Diorio’s genius as well as a simply enjoyable setof great jazz.
