Mukilteo by Whirled Jazz

MUKILTEO features six jazz compositions by Tom Bergeron, a gifted reeds performer, accompanied by Keller Coker on trombone, Page Hundemer on bass, and Dave Storrs on drums. These performers have a harmonic, imaginative sound.

I listened to these 6 long, pleasant songs with much enjoyment over a cup of hot coffee. These performers entertain, take the listener on a magical adventure of clean, crisp sound, and they have an original jazz voice. Dave Storrs on drums is the perfect drummer for this jazz sound journey, and Tom Bergeron on alto saxophone and flute offers up some fine solo work. Keller Coker is superb on trombone, and Page Hundemer is excellent on his bass.

What I liked most of about this collection of creative solos and imaginative team work is the freshness of the sound. This is jazz that is alive with joy and feeling, and it comes across very well indeed for jazz listeners.

If you want some memorable solo sounds in a creative jazz spectrum, MUKILTEO is the CD collection to own. These songs are unique gems of jazz expression.

The songs, "Tadasaba" and "Pacific Crest," remind me of memories from the time I lived in Oregon and listened to many excellent west coast jazz performers live. An original group with original compositions and original sound, Whirled Jazz captures the essence of new jazz coming out of Oregon.

MUKILTEO would make a great gift for a friend. Nice listening, all the way. Excellent production values.
