A Walk In The Park by Dena DeRose

It is a distinct advantage for a vocalist to have the ability to play an instrument. Dena DeRose has certainly been the recipient of this gift. DeRose is a fine singer who evokes a soulful message in her interpretive powers. Her diction is clean with no extraneous clutter and her phrasing captures a unique cadence that works beautifully.

There are two tunes ('Meditation" and "I Concentrate On You") in which the drummer appears completely lost. The beat is not apropos to the tunes theme. There is a tendency for percussion override in this trio setting.

DeRose is a fine singer and is clearly the star of this ensemble.

This album is a worthwhile addition to the collectors library.
