By Request... by Renee Olstead

Teenager Renee Olstead has appeared in several feature films, acting opposite Russell Crowe, Arnold Schwarzenegger and John Cleese. She currently appears on the CBS comedy "Still Standing."

Although she’s probably more recognized for her work in front of the camera, the multi-talented Olstead has released her third CD.

On "By Request.... ," the 13-year-old wraps her impressive pipes around eight well-known tunes that date back to another generation. Several are the signature songs of some of our biggest icons. For example, there’s Judy Garland’s "Over The Rainbow" and Ray Charles’ "Georgia On My Mind."

Covering such distinct material presents a lofty challenge for anyone, let alone a youngster. Olstead, however, does an admirable job. Sounding older than her age, she uses her vibrato to nice effect.

She delivers a darn good version of "What A Wonderful World."

The record doesn’t break any new ground, but it does serve as a showcase for Olstead. It will be interesting to see how she will grow and use her talent in the years ahead.
