Destination Moon by Clairdee

Had Nat King Cole been born a woman, he might well have chosen the voice of Clairdee for his voice! Please allow me to introduce you to one of the finest jazz/blues singers to come along in a very long time. Her name is Clairdee, and she has the perfect voice for the old standards.....the voice is clear, exquisite, the phrasing and pronunciation flawless, a sound that is beautifully sensitive, and caring. She has that rare sensibility for blues like Carmen McRae, her touch quietly gentle yet powerful in its emotional appeal!

The CD is titled DESTINATION MOON, and it is, simply put, beautiful. The songs are a showcase for this lovely songbird's talents. Songs include "When Lights Are Low," "Star Eyes," "Tonight I Shall Sleep With A Smile On My Face," "I've Got The World On A String," "My Future Just Passed," "They Can't Take That Away From Me," "Moonglow," "Time After Time," "East of the Sun (and West of the Moon)," "Destination Moon," and "Beautiful Friendship." I have heard "Time After Time" sung by various artists over the years, but Clairdee's rendition of this beautiful standard is perfectly expressed, and it deserves much, much airplay time. Clairdee gives "Time After Time" a wonderful and sensitive warmth of delivery that is sublime.

If you have never heard Clairdee, this is a rare opportunity to hear a new jazz/blues singer at her finest! Every song vocal is a gem! Such remarkable singing as this should be shared with jazz listeners everywhere.

Clairdee has backup from the great jazz pianist Ken French, whose piano stylings sparkle with flair and imagination on every song, his solo work memorable. With John Wiitala on bass, Eddie Marshall on drums, and Dmitri Matheny on flugelhorn, the sound is complete! Each musician compliments the other in pacing, harmony, and attention to melody.

Clairdee has the ability to phrase perfectly and with much intense feeling of expression, her vocals honest and gentle. She has a remarkably smooth voice.

DESTINATION MOON is a contemporary jazz vocal masterpiece and gives the the world a new, fresh singing talent. Clairdee is here to stay, and with DESTINATION MOON, she reveals all of her many memorable singing gifts, sharing each with the audience! Clairdee is the personification of jazz/blues singing at its best!

Five stars all the way! Flawless! Excellent!
