Emma by Emma Pask

Emma Pask is a young and versatile Australian jazz vocalist. She is accompanied on this CD by a very exciting large orchestra led by Aussie trumpeter, James Morrison. This session swings beautifully and treats the listener to a wide variety of ballads, blues and standards.

Emma swings gently on "Polka Dots and Moonbeams" and even scats a little. Other favorites include "No More Blues," "L.O.V.E.," "How Insensitive," "That Old Feeling" and a raucous version of "Tea For Two."

Some great instrumental solos appear on each selection including leader James Morrison on the trumpet. Other soloists are not mentioned specifically in the otherwise ample notes. The trombone solos are especially captivating. On "That Old Feeling", Emma is accompanied by only trombone and bass.

The young songstress moves comfortably between soft, sultry ballads to gutsy swinging up tempo numbers. This is a very classy performer! A recommended purchase.
