Emotions by Lilian Terry

Lilian Terry's dusky voice carries a message from the soul. In this album of eclectic meanderings, Terry shows a predilection for subdued urgency. The sweet longing and vulnerability so evident in the ballads is her trademark charm. There is a plaintive quality in her phrasing which only intensifies the strength inherent in her vocal interpretations.

The ensemble backing has been chosen well and ably embellishes the smoldering tone set forth by this fine artist.

There is no thin gruel in this recording, no jazz du jour..only an artist performing at the highest level of her art.

Rhythmic flexibility coupled with the ability to swing makes Lilian Terry a treasure in the jazz milieu. She is truly the sine qua non in this fine CD.
