I Want To Be With You by Cle Thompson

Vocalist Cle Thompson spent the last decade in Los Angeles and now makes her home in North Carolina. Coming from a background in legitimate theater, Cle went on to perform as a singer with Elmer Berstein and has appeared in clubs from New York to the West Coast.

This session was recorded in Los Angeles and is laced with lush ballads and jazz standards. Older jazz nuts, like this writer, will find a bit of a likeness to the great Anita O'Day in her approach. Cle treats each tune with true emotion. She is a very honest performer and makes this CD a treat. The lady scats and swings through 11 songs including My Funny Valentine, Fine and Mellow, Them There Eyes, Easy To Love and the perennial Lush Life.

The personnel varies from tune to tune and incorporates some very strong musicians. Space doesn't permit listing them all but I must mention pianists Nick Smith and Myron McKinley, guitarist Tony Drake, reedman Scott Mayo, drummer Kenny Elliot and the outstanding bassist Tomas Gargano.

This CD will be appreciated by anyone who likes honest, straight ahead jazz. If you can't find it at your music store, email Cle Thompson (This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.).
