Life by Tyler Stephenson

Tyler Stephenson is one of the finest tenor jazz vocalists now performing, and this CD shows his remarkable vocal range and excellent phrasing. His voice is clear, intimate, and sensitive.

The Rogers/Hart song, "My Funny Valentine," is given a special treatment, and it is a song that will delight the jazz listening audience! The song was made famous by Frank Sinatra, among other singers, and this rendition ranks with the finest. His take on another Sinatra classic, "I've Got The World On A String," is perfect.

There are six songs on the CD. The songs are "At Last," "Ive Got The World On A String," "On The Street Where You Live," and two versions of the song, "Only One Life," written by Jimmy Webb. One of the versions of "Only One Life" is a special radio/dance mix.

This CD collection will earn Tyler Stephenson a jazz following. His vocals are beautifully done, and his tenor voice is topnotch for jazz vocals. Jim Collins performs piano stylings with style and feeling and does a fine job, with his memorable piano imagination evident on every song. Larry Gray on bass and Leon Joyce on drums/percussion are toprate, too, and their performances shine. Most listeners remember Larry Gray and Leon Joyce as Ramsey Lewis Trio members.

This collection is nice and easy and entertaining jazz. Highly worthy of radio play.
