Love Me Like Candy by Rebecca Kyler Downs

Rebecca Kyler Downs and her band "Strictly Ornamental" are pure delight and emerge from the L.A. club scene. I can’t think of a better way to spend an evening than in a watering hole with this fine outfit.

Rebecca has a versatile voice and is comfortable in a many styles. Her wild version of Cole Porter’s classic "Love For Sale" contrasts beautifully with Sondheim’s sultry "Sooner Or Later." The producers of the TV hit "Roswell" used Rebecca’s title track for use in an episode of their show.

The band arrangements are by Christopher Brady and pianist Red Young; the talented pair really shows their stuff on the Hendricks & Monk tune "Well You Needn’t." It’s nice to see a great combination of instrumentalists and a good jazz singer who are obviously aiming at the same target. Bull’s eye!
