Poet In New York by Georgie Fame

Georgie Fame has put together a nice collection of jazz vocals in his new release, POET IN NEW YORK. The CD features 12 selections including some songs written by Georgie Fame.

Clear singing and heart-felt emotion are the trademarks of Fame's fine voice, and to sample how well he does sing, give a listen to his rendition of Gershwin's "But Not For Me." Other selections include, among others, "Tuned In To You," "On A Misty Night," "It Could Happen To You," and "Lush Life." Pianist Dave Hazeltine is always a welcome treat, and he gives each song a memorable performance on this CD, and gives Georgie Fame an excellent musical background as does the other gifted musicians! Another good number on this is the song, "It Could Happen To You."

All in all, this is a fine recording featuring the vocals of Georgie Fame, and if you have not heard his voice before, then this is a great introduction to his style and delivery. POET IN NEW YORK is good listening enjoyment and sure to find a place with jazz listeners everywhere!
