This CD has a lot of romantic feel to it, and has a definite 1940s touch of elegance to it! Barbara Folden on vocals, Michael Raphael on vocals and piano, David Cleveland on guitar, Craig Nelson on bass, John Hammond on percussion; additional musical personnel includes Randy Kartchner on keyboard and orchestration, Ross Walters on saxophone, flute, harmonica, with Pan Tidwell and Lee Larrison on strings, with Michael Haynes and George Tidwell on trumpets. George Tidwell does the wonderful flugle horn solo on "I Let A Song Go Out Of My Heart." Everything flows together in this collection in a smooth, mellow listening experience. George Gershwin's songs, "Summertime," "How Long Has This Been Going On," "Love Is Here To Stay," "The Man I Love," "Embraceable You," and "Somebody Loves Me" are given fresh and sweet treatment, and the performance of Jobim's "Meditation" is excellent.
There are 12 selections on this CD and each song is well-presented by the jazz vocals of Barbara Folden. This CD will have a wide range of appeal to different audiences because it is very good in its nice, fluid jazz performances! "All of You" is a nice entry, and Cole Porter would like the way it is sung! Something for everybody in this highly likeable jazz cd from Folden and Raphael.
