Sweet Jazz by Leonie Smith

God, Leonie Smith sings as beautifully as she looks. The frosting: She interprets her renderings with authority as well. Smith offersus a varied & eclectic set of covers, and we are allspellbound for the musical journey. I'm warmed by theidea that she follows the Shirley-Horn-esque style of song. This is an noble direction for Leonie to take, as Horn is the quintessential proponent for the 'bel canto ballad 'style of songdelivery. Consequently, Leonie therefore assimilates the 'Shirley' style of song with her relaxed, rhythmic feel. The timbre of her vocalise is textured with a precise, & incandescent tonal quality. One can sense her fertile melodic imagination as well. To sum it all up, may I suggest that Leonie Smith is a musician's singer, such that I'm looking forward to hearing her next project.
