Thats The Way It Is by Clare Teal

By mixing Standards with contemporary covers as well as writing original material, Clare Teal totally stole the thunder from her much applauded label mate Stacey Kent, with the release of "That's The Way It Is" in 2001. Teal's charm and wit (legendary around the UK jazz scene), her passion and emotive control are caught forever on this record. The voice is "stunning" as her press adverts claim and the range of material she covers makes for a truely interesting and captivating listen.

Her writing is as confident as her singing and the original material blends seemlessly with the great songs of yesteryear. "You're My Thrill" and "Ill Wind" send chills down your spine, while "Messin' With Fire" and "Heber, The Receiver" will warm anyone's heart. Teal even manages to breath new life into "Night And Day" a song that, by now, should not need to ever be recorded again. There's only one thing wrong with this should go on forever.
