The Best Of Times by Gary LeMel

With a voice as smooth as cashmere and a delivery as cool as a SouthBeach cocktail, Gary LeMel is back on the scene vocally after a 30 yearhiatus.

Billy Childs and Roger Kellaway bear the brunt of the pianisticendeavors with a whole cadre of top notch players interspersedthroughout the various tracks. Speaking of the tracks, the tunes chosen by LeMel are classics in every sense of the word and he pays homage to every one with a clarity of tone and respect for the lyric and melody.

The various musicians on this recording (A different ensemble for almost every tune) are some of the best in the jazz milieu, the aforementioned Kellaway and Childs  along with Elvin Jones and Chris Botti and Bob Sheppard to name but a few.

Gary LeMel is articulate in his enunciation and his phrasing isimpeccable. LeMel's absence from the jazz world hasn't diminished hisskills in the least.

This album has all the ingredients to satisfy the most discriminating ear....The casual listener and the jazz cognoscenti alike will both be pleased with every facet of this fine CD.
