In THE SONGS OF COLE PORTER, 14 songs are featured, and each is given a topnotch performance by vocalist Susannah McCorkle. I enjoyed every song.
A flawless collection, it also features Randy Sandke on trumpet, Allen Farnham on piano, Howard Alden on guitar, and Rich De Rose on drums. Special guests include Christ Potter on alto saxophone, Robert Trowers on trombone, and Ken Peplowski on tenor saxophone. Ken Peplowski also performs clarinet on the song "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?"
The song collection includes such Cole Porter standards as "Night & Day," a memorable performance of "Anything Goes," "Just One Of Those Things," "From This Moment On," the jazz ballad "You Do Something To Me," "Easy To Love," "You'd Be So Nice To Come Home To," among others. Each performance is a gem of fine performance, and Randy Sandke is always a delight to listen to and his trumpet work is always innovative!
This is a well-constructed and well-performed Cole Porter collection. Susannah McCorkle is at her best and makes the songs her own with her subtle vocals. Highly recommended.
