Words and Music by Joanie Pallatto

Joanie Pallatto is always a special treat to listen to her vocalizations, and her voice is wonderful in this release! The CD has 15 selections, and the musicians accompanying Joanie Pallatto include Eldee Young on acoustic bass and vocal, Alejo Poveda on bongos, Lou Gregory on piano, San Shapera on bass, Chante Hamilton on drums, Rich Fudoli on flute, Dave Onderdonk on nylon and steel guitars, Bradley Parker-Sparrow on piano, Willie Pickens on piano, Redd Holt on drums. There is a vocal duet by Joanie Pallatto and Ron Cooper on the selection, "Somethin' Else!" Joanie Pallatto shines beautifully on the George Gershwin songs "But Not For Me," "I Got Rhythm," "S'Wonderfu," giving them that special touch Gershwin had in mind when he composed them! Another song that is a standout is "Antonio" with words by Pallatto and music by Parker-Sparrow; performed by Pallatto, Parker-Sparrow on piano, Shapera on bass, and Hamiliton on drums. Other excellent selections are "Blue Bossa," "The Lady Is A Tramp," "This Can't Be Love," "lil' Darlin,'" "Desifinado," "New Blues," "Daisy Bell," "Baltimore Oriole," "Love," "So Fine." The selections fit together perfectly!

There is something for everybody in this excellent collection of songs, and Joanie Pallatto sings each one with class, polish, and the open shared joy of a singer who loves what she is doing and who loves the material she is working with! Bradley Parker-Sparrow is a gifted jazz pianist whose stylings are both complex and highly enjoyable. The musicians on this cd are all top-notch and a pleasure to hear performing together.
