Youd Be So Nice To Come Home To by Christine Hitt

Here is a young vocalist/pianist who will be placing a bit of heat on Diana Krall. The Minnesota born artist raised within a musical family. Christine holds a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Minnesota and a Master's degree from the University of Arizona, both in piano performance. Oddly, during her college years, she played saxophone with some notables including Dizzy, Patti Page and the Tommy Dorsey orchestra.

A very capable scat singer, Ms. Hitt shows her stuff on several of the 15 tracks on this CD. You even get a bonus Video track on all MaxJazz issues. Sticking pretty much to standards on this session, Christine gathers several fine players in the various trios and quartets presented here. Tom Kennedy/bass, Jeff Hamilton/drums, Todd Strait/drums/ Scott Alberici/clarinet, Rick Haydon/ guitar and Ray Kennedy/ piano all play beautifully on this fine issue.

Some of the songs are: In a Mellow Tone, Moonglow, Dream a little Dream of Me, I've Got a Crush On You, My Foolish Heart, Thou Swell and the blistering What Is This Thing Called Love. This is really worth a listen folks. Wonderful voice and swinging piano.
