Into the world: A Musical Offering is a great piece and full of surprises in meter! It sounds like Brachfeld takes the tune, that Latin feel and turns into something very special to our ears. This is too fresh to be called Latin, as a classification! It has that Weather Report feel for improvising, but then it has that Chick Corea finesse with flair.
Brachfeld’s percussion section, piano and bass are wonderfully very together creating the masterful pieces that she creates. Wonderful! It has the groove like no other Latin Cd and keep ears guessing on which pattern or meter. Now Brachfeld does do some very nice traditional Latin, but then in an instance turns the beat around .
The band is an all star line up, with a great bass player named Paul West and even has the legendary Eddie Palmeri, a great trumpet player. The great thing about Brachfelds and her band is that it keeps you in your seat and listening for more. Her solos were just wonderful. What a great emphasis of taking each song from her heart and displaying many assets of true talent. Track 4,even thou a bossa beat is making other statements of creating nice colors, but still moving the beats and patterns to different levels, coming in and out of the bossa beat, then suddenly your ears think its going one way, it goes into another nice groove. She breaks all the rules of traditional Latin to give that fresh idea of the great creation!
The CD itself is recorded and mixed very well. Good job Andrea!
