The CD is interesting and diverse, but not too demanding for the average jazz listener. The collection of songs on this CD spans many styles, from standards like "Autumn Leaves" and "Bye Bye Blackbird" to contemporary originals like "In a Blues Funk". Campo has paid homage to jazz legends Miles Davis and Bill Evans with a vision toward the contemporary with an eclectic group of original tunes. Included on the CD is drummer Troy Davis who has been featured with artists Betty Carter,Terrance Blanchard, and Monty Alexander. Also, New Orleans' pianist, Lawrence Sieberth, contributes heavily to the flavor of this CD adding a hint of local tradition mixed with complex harmonic voicings that gives the CD a depth that is greater than most typical smooth jazz radio tunes. The CD is traditional in the sense that it is a quartet without alot of overdubs, therefore, avoiding the slick sounds that permeate the radio today. This CD is not one that you will tire of after one listen, but is one that will reveal layers of good musicianship each time. In short, the more you listen, the more you like!
