Brussels And Paris by Django Reinhardt

While Django Reinhardt is universally aknowledged as the founder, with Stephane Grappelli, of that distinctly European school of modern music known as 'Gypsy jazz', this release provides unambiguous evidence that he continued to progress beyond the boom-chuck rhythms and quaint parlor pieces of the Quintette du Hot Club de France. "Brussels And Paris" features Reinhardt's amplified Selmer 'modele jazz' guitar on over two dozen cuts (many of them originals). Recorded in 1947 and 1951-53, Reinhardt had absorbed the then-recent 'bop' and 'cool' genres and was playing(and composing) in both styles fluently and idiomatically. A must-have for those who appreciate excellence in music!
