La Scala by Keith Jarrett

This is not just another Keith Jarrett solo concert. In its form, it resembles the previous solo concerts by on of the leaders in Jazz improvisational concerts. After Koln Concertand Vienna Concert, this CD was recorded on Feb. 13 1995 at the Scala theater in Milano. There are 3 tracks. The first one: La scala I, starts with the usual serenity of Jarrett playing. The music slowly shifts from classical atmosphere to a more jazzy rhythm accompanied by Keith's own humming and occasional tapping on the piano. You can feel a lot of eastern sounds in the improvisation. You can feel some Arabic musical improvisational tunes in there. The next track is faster but with the same taste. The last track: Over the Rainbow is a continuation of the ventures but with more classical taste. This whole CD is a new Jarrett endeavor that definitely adds a new realm of concert improvisational moments that are worth listening to and having in ones library.
