Something Old, Something New by Frank Glover

Jazz clarinet virtuoso, Frank Glover, was the recipient of the 1996 National Endowment for the Arts Jazz Performance grant. This CD, Something old, Something new, was selected by arts Indiana as one of the top ten Hoosier jazz recordings of all time. Invitation was arranged on this CD for string orchestra and jazz quartet. It doesn't flip from jazz to classical, as some of the Eddie Daniels has done, but rather is totally jazz with the string accompaniment and quoting of the head. Wonderful arrangement of Frank's. Frank's playing on this CD along with Claude Sifferlin on piano is a sound all their own. Inspired by players such as John Coltrane, Benny Goodman, Dave Liebman, and Eddie Daniels, Frank has a deep, dark, mellow sound, which he expresses with the orchestra and rhythm section.
