Don't Wait for Spring by Gary Davis

Saxophonist Gary Davis has found his mark in his latest release Don't Wait for Spring. Davis has a different style for himself that is as comfortable on both uptempo and downtempo songs. With the experience of working with some of smooth jazz' best, like Jeff Lorber, Bob James, Chris Botti and Nick Colionne, along with some of jazz' biggest, like Herbie Mann, Ronnie Laws and Diana Krall, and rock legend Eddie Money, Davis has geared his own sound to reflect what he feels about the music.

Davis seems to be in his comfort zone with slow numbers. From the CD's first track Urban Vives through the touching With You, with great vocals from Regina Davis, Davis shows a special feeling to get the emotion out of the song. I'll Always Remember You has something that can touch deep down in the heart.

Don't Wait for Spring also shows Gary Davis as a person that does have a knack to find urban appeal in uptempo numbers. In the only cover on the CD, Davis brings new attitude to Billy Ocean's Love Zone and makes it his own. Davis also show his writing abilities on urban tempered songs like Just A Picture and the CD's title track.

Working with some of the best people in the music business, Gary Davis has come full circle to get the best from each of them and get his own style down pat. Don't Wait for Spring shows just how various small parts can be incorporated in a style that is urban, yet hits to the heart. I don't want to wait for Davis' next release.
